CYPE programs have a wide range of national and international codes available which are applied to carry out the analysis, design and check of reinforced concrete, rolled steel, welded steel, cold-formed steel, composite, aluminium and timber structures for gravitational, wind, seismic and snow loads.

CYPE’s building services programs contain design codes which are used to analyse and design building services (water supply, waste water, air conditioning, solar capture for hot sanitary water, lightning protection, lighting, gas, electricity and telecommunication installations), and to check thermal and acoustic insulation, the building’s energy certification and fire safety.

Amongst the codes contemplated in CYPE software are codes currently in force, and those which a no longer in use but are still required, either to check structures which were designed when they could be applied, or because they are still applicable in countries other than those of their origin.

Depending on the country where the user acquires the license (or where he/she specifically chooses to acquire it), only the design codes corresponding to that country will be activated for each program, regardless of the language in which it is installed.

AcouBAT by CYPE is a tool developed by CYPE and the CSTB (Scientific and Technical Centre for Building) with the aim to help users study the insulation and acoustic conditioning of buildings. It calculates the indices that evaluate the insulation of airborne sound (indoor and outdoor), impact sound insulation and the reverberation level in indoor spaces, in accordance with the procedure contained in the EN ISO 12354:2017 code.

Using this module, quantity lines can be obtained from DXF or DWG files. Quantities which can be imported include: counted amounts of elements, linear lengths, polygonal lengths, circular perimeter lengths, rectangular areas, polygonal areas, etc.

The resulting quantity tables, after the import of data from these programs, can contain many quantity lines belonging to the same element. Arquimedes can group these quantity lines depending on the dimensions of the elements they represent. For example, all the measurements carried out by Allplan of a wall which has constant height and thickness can be grouped together in a single quantities line.

This results in a considerable reduction in the total number of quantity details lines. The program has a serried of predefined grouping conditions. The user also has the option to create new grouping rules, to group table quantity lines in accordance with the user’s own criteria.

CYPECAD MEP is a program for the design of the envelope, distribution and services of the building using an integrated 3D model with the various elements of the building (dwellings, offices, hospitals, teaching centres, shops, residential, etc.). It is composed of several modules or tabs, depending on the different types of installations that can be designed.

The Dynamic fire simulation module, implemented within the Fire (FDS) tab of CYPECAD MEP, is the result of an investigation project financed by the Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (CDTI), and co‑financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

This module of CYPECAD MEP carries out dynamic simulations of the evolution of fires in buildings using two external tools (already installed in the program): the FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) analysis motor and the graphics viewer, SmokeView (SMV), both developed by the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology, USA). These tools do not have a graphical data introduction interface or a useful and easy to use analytical expression of the results, and so, other tools are required for their use.

CYPE’s Dynamic fire simulation module uses the graphical interface of the CYPECAD MEP program to provide the FDS motor and SmokeView viewer with the correct and required data (without the user having to intervene in this communication). It offers a highly useful analysis of the results, obtained from an exhaustive interpretation of the results calculated by the FDS motor, and all this, without the need of a highly qualified expert in the use of the FDS motor or fire evolution in buildings. The philosophy behind CAD programs with BIM (Building Information Modelling) technology is to integrate all the information required to carry out a construction project in its initial phases, in such a way that this information is then available to other applications to resolve the other phases of the construction project. The flow of information from the CAD/BIM programs to other applications is done via IFC format interchange files.

IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) format files are open standard files and are not controlled by any software manufacturer. They were developed by the IAI (International Alliance for Interoperability) with the aim to become a standard with which building information models could be shared easily in the construction sector.

This way, the data introduction process is simplified and each software application that intervenes in the project does not require complete data introduction; it can use the data that has been introduced in the CAD/BIM program, consequently reducing errors and saving time.

BIM technology has been implemented in the main CAD programs (Allplan, Archicad and Revit Architecture) and its evolution will offer users substantial improvements in the complete development of their projects.

At CYPE, aware of this evolution in the elaboration process of construction projects, the module: Import CAD/BIM models, has been developed, which allows for IFC format files to be imported (IFC2x3 standard) to CYPECAD MEP. The Automatic job introduction: DXF, DWG and CAD/BIM models module has also been implemented, which allows for IFC format files (IFC2x3) to be imported to CYPECAD.

The import of IFC format files allows CYPECAD MEP to access the information of programs with BIM technology, and therefore, incorporate all the construction elements making up the building automatically.

During the building design process, the exact composition of the façades and partitions (conductivity properties of each layer, position of the vapour control layer, thermal bridges etc.) are not specified in the CAD/BIM program. For this reason, CYPECAD MEP incorporates an IFC model import assistant, which allows users to automatically assign the properties of the façades, partitions, floor slabs, roof, windows, etc.

This way, the CAD/BIM program user is not obliged to carry out a detailed description of each element and the design and technical specification phases of each component are separated effectively.

As the contents of the materials, manufacturer, etc. databases of the CAD/BIM programs increase, CYPE programs will also broaden the import possibilities of the available information. More Info
